Chapter 14: Curry, Curry, and More Curry
Nihao family!
There was a lot of curry this week. It was the best. The SongShan missionaries put on an activity for the ward, and it was a curry cook-off! We have been planning this, spreading the word, and literally telling everyone we know and meet about our curry cook-off for the past month. It was a great way to meet members and investigators! One of our investigators, Denise, even made curry for the cook-off. We had about 10 people bring curry and then everyone tasted it and voted their favorite. Denise got third place! As a prize they all got more curry haha. The activity was especially fun for the missionaries because curry is literally all of our favorite food. There was so much, and it was just so much fun. There was such a good turnout too! Sister Kwan and I had the spiritual share and we shared a video about the Book of Mormon, talked about how it blesses everyone's lives and how we want it to fill the world. So we printed out 20ish Book of Mormon scriptures, and then had everyone take a picture of themselves and put their favorite scripture on the picture and post it to Facebook or Line (an app that literally EVERYONE here uses). It was so cool! All the investigators and members got super into it, and we were able to share with lots of people about the Book of Mormon.

On Sunday night we had a ward family home evening activity, where families in the ward come and the missionaries are in charge and we just kind of do a family home evening! It was super fun and lots of people showed up. Sister Kwan and I were in charge of the spiritual share (again haha) and we taught about the Stripling Warriors. We made all the children (and like half the adults too haha) the righteous Nephite Stripling Warriors and the Elders were the Lamanites. We read the story of the Stripling Warriors in Alma 56 and 57 and then had the children throw paper balls at the Lamanites. It was wonderful. The Elders died so gracefully. We then discussed how we can learn so much from the Book of Mormon and invited them all to study the Book of Mormon everyday in their families. We read about 11 total scriptures and already were able to learn so much. It's so amazing how we can learn so much from so little. The Book of Mormon is seriously so powerful! I want everyone to read it.

Funny thing about Taiwan. People here don't like getting tan. So we see these people all the time who are on their scooters with long pants, socks, shoes, long-sleeve shirts, mittens, a scarf, a face-wrap, a hat, and sunglasses riding around in the 100 degree heat. Because they don't want to get tan. It's seriously the craziest thing. There is literally no skin showing haha. Taiwan is such a wonderful place.
The work here is SongShan is doing so great. We keep finding lots of new and awesome people, and we keep teaching lots of people and building their faith. It's so wonderful seeing people grow and change so much. I love being a missionary!
Love you all!
Love,
Sister Larson
