Chapter 11: It's So Wonderful Here!

Nihao!

This week was such a great week! Sister Kwan and I saw so many miracles, it was amazing! Everyday I feel like I understand missionary work more and more, so it gets better. It is so much fun, and I absolutely love it here in Taipei.

Me and my comp eating dinner at Subway (yay for sandwiches and not really weird Taiwanese food)

We had a baptism this week! Her name is Cindy and she's so awesome. She is a nurse who takes care of old people and people with mental illnesses. It's really hard and she gets spit and hit a lot, but she is so cute and has such a good attitude about everything. I am so excited for her as she begins this journey in the gospel.

At Cindy's baptism! Her twin sister Candy is in the middle (we are still teaching her, hopefully she will get baptized soon!) and she was not having any smiles hahaha.

Side note about Cindy, literally EVERYONE here is named Cindy. We meet someone here everyday who's name is Cindy, 2 of our investigators are Cindy, and there are at least 5 people in the ward named Cindy. Also everybody's last name is Chen. Or Li or Lin (my last name). At church yesterday, I was talking to 5 sisters and one was like "My name is Chen, which is the most common name in Taiwan" and then 3 other sisters just went in a line and all were like, my name is also Chen. And the other one's name was Li. Let's just say if I forget a ward member's name, I'll call them Cindy Chen and I'll probably be right haha.

SongShan is such a wonderful place. The work here is really doing well and it is so much fun! My favorite thing is probably biking in the rain. There's rain, and then there's "xia dayu" which literally means "down big rain" haha. It rains so hard and when we are biking in it, I can't just help but smiling, because you can choose to love it or you can choose to hate it, and I just love it! Another thing that is fun on our bikes is avoiding getting hit by cars. Most days I almost get hit by a taxi or a bus 2 or 3 times, but one day I almost got hit by a Ferrari, so that was exciting. It's kind of crazy because you are biking on the street and then all of a sudden this huge loud noise is next to you and you look over and the side view mirrors on the bus are like 4 inches away from your face. It's the best haha. (Sorry, Mom)

Right after it "xia dayu"d, with me wearing my super shuai rain poncho. Also there was this Porsche parked right outside the church building. There are so many nice cars here haha.

Hope you all have a wonderful week! I love it so much here in Taipei. The work is so good and the gospel is true! Love you all!

Love,
Sister Larson
