Nihao!
Wow so many wonderful things this week! The work here is so amazing. Aside from the fact that it still is super duper incredibly hot, I love the work! We found some really awesome people this week because we have been using the Book of Mormon in contacting. It's wonderful! Literally the best book in the world. It can be used in every situation, applies to everyone, and it is so powerful! I love the Book of Mormon!

Sister Kwan and I got the best bing in the whole world! Bing is shaved ice but like you put weird fruit or bean things on it. Then they put on sweet syrup and condensed milk. We eat it for dinner once or twice a week. (also it's super cheap. #blessup)

While eating bing, the power went out! We just kind of shrugged our shoulders and kept eating bing in the dark haha. Apparently there was a huge power outage over all of Taiwan? At least in Taipei there was. Like all the street lights were out and also a lot of the stoplights too. But it all worked out because we met a really cool lady and she became our investigator! #qiji

We are literally so sweaty all the time. The napkins we use to wipe off our faces with (it's that bad. #humidityin100degreeheat) stick to us. We look really great in this picture.

So last P-day after I emailed, a member drove us and the Songshan Elders to a little town about an hour away where we could send off a floating lantern! It was so fun! Unfortunately, I don't have the pictures yet though (note: the pictures were shared on Google Drive later, and are found below). We all got to paint on one side of it and release it into the air! The only issue was the fact that Fu DiXiong (the member) received his car for free, so there was no air conditioning, and it broke down. A lot. Like 8 times. I am not exaggerating. We counted. It took us a really long time to get back, and then his car just died like a 20 minute drive away from Songshan. So we took the MRT (like the subway) back to our apartment. But good news everyone! Fu DiXiong got his car fixed, and he felt so bad that he offered to take us wherever we want to go whenever we want to go on P-day, so the next few weeks are going to be really fun haha.

This week P-day was so much fun. Also the most physically hard thing I've ever done in my life. But first some background. Last night the Elders called us at like 10:25 (we aren't allowed to make calls after 10:30, so like right at the deadline) and they were like "Hey do you want to go on a hike with us in XiZhi tomorrow morning at 6 am?" and I (without even asking my companion first... sorry Sister Kwan) immediately said YES! Because I like to hike and be in nature and Taiwan is SO PRETTY and I haven't gotten to see very much of it yet. Then they told us we had to bike to XiZhi (like a 35 minute bike ride. It doesn't seem like that far, but trust me. It is) and BE in XiZhi by 6 am. Cool. Then they told us the other Elders going with us said from XiZhi, it's about 3 hours roundtrip (they lied). So Sister Kwan and I got up this morning at 5 am and headed to XiZhi. When we got there, the XiZhi Elders said that to get to the trail we have to bike up this mountain and then the trail starts. They told us it wouldn't be that bad. It was so bad. It was 3 kilometers of very steep uphill on a bike. Sister Kwan and I walked our bikes most of the way. Then the trail was in the mountains, so very steep and kind of sketchy (so many scary bug noises, but I only saw like 4 lizards). But the top of the mountain was so pretty! We could see all around us, and because it was raining, we were literally standing in a cloud. So beautiful. Going back down was a lot easier, but then when we got to the bottom of the mountain, we still had to bike 35 minutes back to Songshan. The Elders decided to take us a different way that they thought was faster (it wasn't) so we eventually made it back at about 10:30. And we had a lesson at 11. And a lunch appointment at 12. A lady in our ward turned 50 today so the Elders and us took her out to T.G.I. Friday's (ahhhh so gui). But anyways, bushwhacking up a mountain with total of 3 hours of biking (with like 1.5 of it uphill) looking back is really fun! Next time the Elders ask if we want to go on a hike, we need to get more information about what type of hike it is going to be haha.

Taiwan mountains! This was after we biked halfway up the mountain and were at the trail head. This picture doesn't do it justice. IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL.

| Cute random plastic heart at the head of the trail. This is how I feel about Sister Kwan. She is the BEST. |
 |
| Selfie on the top of the mountain! At this point it was raining and also misting because we were in the cloud. |
 |
| Selfie after we got back. I was so sweaty. Also it rained so I blame the reason I was so wet on the rain haha. |

| I GOT SO DIRTY ON THE HIKE. So much fun. I love being on the island!! |
I love it here in Songshan. The people are the greatest. Missionary work is the best work. Also I have been on the island for a month as of this week. SO CRAZY.
So much love,
Sister Larson

People always told me about cockroaches in Taiwan, but I have never seen one! Until Thursday, we found one in our apartment. So we killed it. We also found a lizard living in our apartment too. But hopefully he eats the cockroaches. We named the lizard Rufus. Also we still haven't gotten rid of the cockroach. It was Thursday. Today is Monday. It's just sitting in our hallway with a napkin over it, because we are lazy when we get home :)
