Chapter 27: Happy Thanksgiving!

Nihao!

Wow this week was long, but it also went by so fast! So many super awesome things happened this week!

First thing: We got to go to the temple to do baptisms with Liang JieMei. It was such a cool experience, and she loved it! I am so blessed to be in an area 20 minutes (or an hour with Liang JieMei, lol she has a limp so it takes her a long time to get places. It just makes me love her that much more!) away from the temple! It's such a beautiful place. The Taipei temple is one of the smallest temples in the world, but it's still a house of the Lord and still has the same Spirit. Liang JieMei said that she felt so good and so clean after she went to the temple, and that she slept really well that night. Basically, I love the temple and I love Liang JieMei
Second thing: Yesterday we had such a cool miracle! One of our gospel principles teacher has an 11 year old daughter who hasn't been baptized because the grandma opposes. But the mom walked up to me after sacrament meeting yesterday and asked me if we had time after church ended. I said yes, and she was like, I want you to teach my daughter the lessons and I want her to get baptized in December. WHAT. It was like the biggest miracle ever! I am so excited we can help this girl get baptized! It is honestly such a miracle. God loves us so much.

Third thing: We got a super cool new investigator! Her name is Grace and she is a self referral! She really likes Lindsey Stirling, so she looked into her background and found out she was a Mormon, so she wanted to have the same happiness that Lindsey Stirling does. WHAT. So awesome! She got a chapel tour of the JinHua chapel by the temple, then she got our number and contacted us! We invited her to our ward Thanksgiving party (more on that later) and she came! And then she came to church for all three hours the next day! And she set up for us twice this coming week! She's so cool, and I am so excited to get to know her better and help her understand this gospel more.

Last thing: Our ward Thanksgiving Party was on Saturday and it was LIT. It was SO. MUCH. FUN. We had so many nonmembers, investigators, and ward members show up! There was a talent show, and they asked the missionaries to do a talent about Thanksgiving, so we did a play about how Thanksgiving came to be. It was honestly one of the dumbest things I have ever participated in, but the ward loved it. So now I can tell you all about the pilgrims and the Mayflower in Chinese. (Fun fact: the word for Mayflower in Chinese is a direct translation, it wuyuehua, which literally means 5 month (May) flower lololol) We had ward members do little plays, sing songs as a family, and one sister in our ward sang a song in Spanish?! So I found out that she speaks Spanish haha. Also another family sang a very famous Taiwanese pop song that we hear all the time and this chick rapped the song? It was like the craziest thing ever, but it was so much fun. Everybody voted who was their favorite talent by putting a red dot on them after the performance, and the missionaries got second place! Lol, it's just because we're the missionaries and all the little girls in the ward love me. I think I one point I was trying to balance 2 conversations with 3 little girls just running up to me and hugging me. Things got a little crazy, but they are all just so cute its okay. Then for the best part of the night, we got to watch a video of our families! A couple weeks ago, all of us missionaries in SongShan had our families send us videos of things they were thankful for and why they were thankful for the gospel, and then we had an RM from Temple Square in our ward translate the videos and add Chinese subtitles. It was so cool! I think our ward loved it. It was such a good way to share the gospel with so many people not of our faith! Thank you so much family for doing that for us!!!!!

Also shout out to my baby sister. She turned 17 this week. #what. Emma please stop getting old. #loveya

Also one last thing, the church is starting the Light the World campaign! It's super awesome and you should go check it out!

Love y'all, have a great week!

5. Big Lin JieMei with Little Lin JieMei. She's one of the cute little girls in my ward who loves me just as much as I love her. Fun fact, if you go on the gospel library app and go to the section that is called "Children" the picture is of her in our SongShan chapel! Go check it out, everyone can see it.
