Chapter 35: It's still raining
大家好!! (da jia hao -- hello everyone)
Wow, I can't believe another week has already flown by! It seems like just yesterday I was emailing home. This week has been super good!! Its been super super rainy. It has rained every single day from last Monday to this Monday haha. I wear 3 different pairs of shoes and I have to switch them out everyday to give them 2 days to dry. It's a pretty good system.
This week we had a lot of awesome visits with some awesome investigators! We visited with our friend Lin JieMei (just like me!... and like 1/3 of Taiwan). She is super cute! She lives super far away right next to a port, and it is SO beautiful. We were biking over to her house with the ocean on one side of the street and tall, green mountains on the other. I am constantly amazed from all of God's beautiful creations. Anyways, we were teaching Lin JieMei the gospel of Jesus Christ and all of a sudden, she stops us and is like, "I have something for you two." And Sister Tu and I are just like, okay haha. So she runs and grabs some olive oil and says that our hair looks too dry and frizzy (it's that dang humidity, my hair looks crazy), and proceeds to dump oil into her hands and rub it all over my companion's hair. I sighed and thought I dodged a bullet when she didn't immediately start to oil my hair, but 3 minutes later she just picks up the oil, puts it in her hand, and rubs it all over my head. That was a first for me. The good news is is that it was raining, so all the oil got washed out on our way back! But for reals, Lin JieMei is super fun and super cute.
Our next fun investigator is Zhuang JieMei! She is so wonderful. She has a 5 year old son who can get kind of crazy sometimes, but she has the biggest faith and she loves to pray. It's so awesome teaching her and watching her gain more understanding on who she is, who Jesus Christ is, and how He can help her life.
Another quick funny story from this week. Living and being with a Taiwanese person who doesn't speak much English is an adventure sometimes... actually all the time. I can probably count on one had the amount of conversations I've had in English this last week, and those are just when we call the district leader at night. Anyways, my English has gotten a little weird. Sister Tu and I speak Chinglish to each other (90/10 Chinese/English) and so sometimes when I say a word in English, I say it the way she would in her Chinese accent. It's so bad. I honestly try not to do it, but sometimes it just happens. #missionarylyfe
I just want to share a quick scripture before I go. I read it this week during my personal study and I really loved it. It's in 1 Nephi 4:6, and it says, "And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do." Missionary work is a lot like that. Sometimes we aren't sure who we need to talk to or what we need to share with them, but we just have to trust the Spirit and know that we will not be led astray if we are trying to follow it. There have been many times on my mission where I have not known what to say or do, but I know that if I listen to the Spirit, everything will work out. We just always have to remember that everything good comes from God, so if it is a good thing to do, it is okay with God.

I hope you all have a wonderful, lovely week. Stay warm wherever you are, and I'll try to stay dry!
Love you all!
Love,
Sister Larson
1. Selfie while Lin JieMei went to go grab the olive oil for our hair
2. Post-olive oil with Lin JieMei
3. We have an investigator who sells sweet potatoes on the side of the street in a little cart. We were over teaching her when she said she had to go to the bathroom and asked us if we could watch her cart and sell her sweet potatoes for her. So of course we took a selfie. It was probably the first and last time I will ever be a sweet potato vendor
4. English class prep. We teach the Children's class and Tu JieMei was trying to draw "dislike." I'd say she did a pretty good job haha
5. Luodong District!
