Chapter 45: Super Cool Miracles Every Day!
Hello!
This week was a great week! Every single day we seemed to see a super cool miracle!
Monday: We had planned to go visit two less active members, but then only had time for one. So we picked the one we wanted to go to and left to go find her. We got to her house and found that she wasn't there and her parents don't know when she is returning from Taibei and the parents said they have no interest. As we were leaving to go knock doors around their house, this little 8 year old boy just shows up and starts talking to us. Then we go and meet his older brother, give him a Book of Mormon, and set up a time to meet with the both of them and their grandmother! It was so cool! But wait there's more. We still had time to knock on one door, so we picked the door across from their house and knocked. When they saw us, they were just like, come on in! It was the weirdest thing. That has never happened to me before. Turns out the mom of the family's mom is a super active member in Zhudong (on the west coast of Taiwan)! And so we are going to go find another time to go and visit them. Monday night was full of miracles!
Tuesday: We were passing out English fliers at an elementary school when this old lady starts to talk to us. Turns out she is a member of the church and hasn't been to church in 40 years! But she said recently she has been wanting to come back to church. (!!!!!!) What?! We are so excited that we get to meet with her and her grandson tomorrow. Hopefully we can help her desire to come back to church grow!
Wednesday: We were prepping for English class in the chapel on Wednesday night when the chapel phone rang. That doesn't normally happen. So we go to answer it, and it's National Yilan University! (A huge university in our area, only about a 10 minute train ride away) Anyways, they tell us that they want us to come to their school twice a week for 1.5-2 hours and just talk in English with their students. And we can share the gospel with them. No restrictions. And no prep. Just sit in a room and talk with students in English. #what. We are so excited for this great finding opportunity!
Thursday: We ran out of gas in our apartment, and didn't have enough money to buy new gas because it was the end of the month. And we weren't going to have time until Tuesday to buy new gas. We couldn't shower in cold water one more time. (the first time was pretty rough). So we called our district leader and he was kind enough to lend us 700 NTD (like $20). We had hot water that night :)
Friday: We met with a super cute girl who just moved from Taibei, is a recent convert to Christianity, and who is looking for a new church in Yilan! We have just the place for her right here in Yilan haha. We are excited about how she will progress!
Saturday: The YSAs in our ward had an activity where they bought Domino's pizza. And they invited us. Oh. My. Gosh. I haven't had real pizza in 8 months. I just about died. It was soooooo good.
Sunday: Found out that we got an Asian apostle. Who served in this mission. And speaks Chinese. #bless
This email is a little longer than normal weeks, but it's because it was such a great week full of miracles! I hope you all have a great week and I am SO pumped about conference! We have to watch a week late so they can translate it. Also time difference....
Love you all!
Love,
Sister Larson
Pics:
1, 2. We were finding in a park yesterday and came across people with snakes. So what do you do? You hold their snakes and share the gospel with them. It was so terrifying and weird feeling. What have I become?
3. We went to Taibei with our investigator and her two daughters last night for a fireside. It was way good, and they loved the temple!
4. When in Taiwan you just gotta take pictures with the rice fields that go on for kilometers (literally there are SO MANY in Yilan)
5. Picture with my trainer and her trainer! She goes home on Saturday! Crazy!
6. This girl wanted to take a picture with us haha. Her mom flat out said they had no interest at all, but still wanted to take a picture lolol.
