Chapter 50: So Many Magical Moments

大家好!
Wow. Okay for reals this might have been one of my top 10 weeks on my mission (and next week will be up there too). There were so many amazing things happen!
To start off, last week we set a really solid date for Lin JieMei on May 12. She said she really feels prepared and she's excited to start a new chapter in her life. She's really reading the Book of Mormon and she believes in prophets now, which she was struggling with earlier. Anyways, on Saturday she passed her baptismal interview!  her baptism is this Saturday! Which will make May 12th even more important to me! (Happy birthday to you, Eric!) We are so excited for Lin JieMei!
Another super cool that happened this week was with English class! Last week I talked about how we had so much success getting English class referrals through posting on Facebook, so we tried doing it again this week. Apparently Tuesday night at 8:45 is the right time to do it, because Elder Brown's and my pictures just blew up. Between the 2 of us, we had a combination of over 2,500 likes on our pictures, with over 200 people who signed up on the website saying they wanted to come to English class. So we just went ham calling all of those referrals. We had so many people come to English class, it was amazing! Another thing we are encouraged to do is to call ahead of time the people who signed up and if they marked they have interest in the gospel, set them up to meet about the gospel on the phone before they even come to English class. We had so much success doing that! In one night we were able to get 10 setups with people for next week! A good day for setups for us is getting 2 or 3, but we were able to get 10! That's 10 new people we get to share the gospel with next week! English class is legit the best.
One cool tender mercy from this week (as a missionary tender mercies can come in all sorts of forms haha) was when we found this place in Yilan City called Slobber that serves REAL AMERICAN FOOD. They had ranch dressing. And chili. And real burgers. And real milkshakes. And Mexican food. And sour cream. Literally this place was sooooooo magical. I haven't had ranch dressing or a real burger since I got on island 10 months ago. Let's just say Sister Elliott and I really really really enjoyed that meal hahaha. We just about died afterwards though.
Last quick thought for the week. Yesterday for church we had a special broadcast from Salt Lake of President Clayton, Bishop Waddell, Sister Cordon, and Elder Andersen speaking to all the members in Hong Kong and Taiwan. It was a really awesome broadcast! Elder Andersen talked about the first and second great commandments in Matthew 22.
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
He mentioned obviously the first commandment is to love God, but the second one is to love others. Then I love when he said that in order to do the second commandment, to love and serve others, we have to first obey the first commandment of loving God. When we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, it comes as a natural instinct to love others the same way.
I thought that was so powerful. If we want to have more love for others, we have to have more love for God. And then as we start having more love for others, our love for God also increases. The two commandments just strengthen each other.
I hope we can all have a little bit more love towards God and our fellow men this week!
Love you all!
Love,
Sister Larson
