Chapter 51: Some Seeds Take Longer Than Others
哈囉!!!
So because I talked to my family today (woot woot! Last time and then I get to see them in person!) this letter is going to be kind of short, but I just want to say a quick, super sick story.
This story starts in 1998 (or earlier, not 100% sure haha, but we'll just say 1998 because that's the only date I have.) There was a family who owned a noodle shop on the small Taiwan-owned island of PengHu. And it just so happens that the Mormon missionaries lived across the street from them and used to frequent their noodle shop. They would invite the elders over to their house for dinner on Sundays and the elders would share about Jesus Christ with them. They even had a book that they would have missionaries getting transferred write in so they could remember them. Unfortunately, this family never got baptized, but the missionaries really influenced them a lot. Then they moved away from PengHu and lost contact with the missionaries.
Fast forward 20 years, and this family's daughter saw an ad for a free English class taught by the missionaries she knew when she was a young teenager. She was struggling spiritually and needed to feel the same spirit that she had when the missionaries would visit them in PengHu. So she brought her two (super cute) daughters to English class and the missionaries talked to her and set up with her to share more about the gospel.
Now fast forward 4 months and this lady, Sister Lin, got baptized!! She has been preparing for this day for over 20 years. And she is so excited to be able to have a new start through Jesus Christ! She's literally the best and I'm so glad I was able to help her through this process of getting baptized! I love her so much.
Another super cool part of this story goes back to that book that the old missionaries used to write in. Sister Lin let us borrow it, and we were able to look up a lot of the missionaries on Facebook (with President's permission, of course) and tell them about how the seed they planted 20 years ago was harvested because she got baptized! Out of 7, only 2 have responded, but they were super excited to hear about it!
So that's my super cool miracle story of the week. Hope everyone has a great Mother's Day! I'm so grateful for all the wonderful mothers in my life, especially my mom. Shout out to her, because she's the BEST. Love you Mom!
Love you all!
Love,
Sister Larson

Quick funny story from this week: We were on our way to visit a family who lives kind of in the boonies. Who am I kidding. I live in Yilan. Everywhere is the boonies haha. Anyways, so we were biking at night on this very narrow, windy (like, lots of turns, not lots of air blowing haha) road with rice fields on either side, a train going in distance, and it was like the most cliche Taiwanese thing ever. Sister Elliott and I were talking about how when we got our mission calls, we definitely imagined ourselves biking on a dark, windy road with rice fields all around and a train sounding in the distance. So. Basically mission accomplished lol.
