Chapter 56: Once, I hate pasta. Now, it's my life
端午節快樂!!
Happy Dragon Boat festival!
This week was AMAZING. We saw so many incredible miracles that I am so excited to share!
At the beginning of the week Sister Wells and I decided to set some super solid goals that we would pray for every time we said a prayer. They were:
1. To be blessed with the gift of tongues
2. To always have the Spirit with us
3. To be able to have more faith
4. To be able to overcome temptation and be more obedient missionaries
5. To find 4 new investigators
We were really diligent about praying for and accomplishing these goals, and guess what? We did! We should have been more specific in our new investigator goal though, because every new investigator we found is a man haha. In our mission the sisters teach women and the elders teach men, so we are going to pass them off next week to the elders. This week our goal is to pray for female investigators and families haha.
Cool miracle story from last week!! On Saturday we still needed 1 new investigator, so we went to our area book, picked out a name of a former investigator that had an address, and biked over there. Long story short, it was up an incredibly tall hill that, although it required our bikes to be in very low gear, but we were still able to make it up the hill with no breaks. Along the way we were able to:
Talk to a very nice Christian lady in English, testify about the Restoration and restored truths, and giver her a Book of Mormon (she didn't set up, but we did plant that seed)
Talk to a Russian man walking his dog about Jesus Christ, share with him a scripture about Christ in Russian (with our handy dandy smartphones #technologyyyyyyy) and promptly get told that he doesn't like to talk about religion
Get slightly lost, thinking we had found the address, then realizing we still had so much hill to go up.
Then we arrived!! We knocked on their door and a very nice man named Jeff answered! Although his parents weren't there, we were still able to remind them about Jesus Christ and how He can influence his life and set up a time to meet with him again! We had found our miracle new investigator! We were so full of 感恩 (thanksgiving)!!
Because we had worked so hard to get to the top of the hill, we decided to stay on top of the hill and knock the apartment building. The first door we knocked, no one answered. So we knocked the door across the hallway. And they answered! It was a woman, she was so excited and surprised to see us, and she was like, please, come in, come in!! Sister Wells and I stood there shell shocked for a hot second before we decided that we should enter this random lady's house (lol, the slightly sketchy things we do as a missionary). As it turns out, she is a less active member!! We had no idea she lived there! We were able to get to meet her and share with her an awesome message about how God needs her on His side. At the end of the lesson, she said she felt bad that we came to visit her and she forgot, but then we told her that we weren't planning on visiting her and we didn't know she lived there and that she was a member. It was 100% God's plan that we visited her, and it made her feel really touched. That night was another testimony to me of how God has a plan for us and a purpose with everything He does. I am so grateful to be a servant for Him and to be able to be placed in other's paths so that I might help them come unto Christ. I love this work!!!
I hope you all have a great week!! Oh and by the way, going down that hill was fun, but also incredibly terrifying because it was raining, it was night time, and I should probably replace my brakes soon haha. Let's just say I basically screamed the entire way down the hill, but I made it down alive and only slightly scarred haha.
Love you all!

Pics!!
1. We ate district dinner at this pasta place and we died at it's name.
2. Found this umbrella holder with facts about rain. I thought it was really funny.
3, 4. I guess an Elder has my name in his phone as 高弟 Larson 林馨樂 (our messaging app, Line, that we use requires us to all use our first names, like Facebook). To explain this, the first character, 高, is gao, and the second character is 弟, di. Which says gaodi when you say it out loud. Anyways, I asked him why it was like that, and he told me it's because the word Gao means high, so with a Chinglish translation, my name is Highdi in his phone. I don't know if my explanation makes sense, but I thought it was really clever haha.
5. HAPPY BLUESDAY. We've started to dress up according to what day it is.
Tuesdays: blue aka Bluesday
Wednesdays: pink
Fridays: floral Fridays
Saturday: plaidurday (hehehe)
If you have any suggestions for Sunday, Monday, or Thursday, the Muzha district gladly welcomes them.
6. That face you make when your investigator doesn't pick up for your appointment
7. When One Direction comes on during language study, so you take a selfie and try to focus on Chinese and not the song
8. Our miracle member find!!!
9. I love Google translate translations haha (This is Malachi 3:10) lolol
10. View from our chapel on the 7th floor
