Chapter 18; I learned the Chinese word for spider!

Nihao!! Hope all is well where it is Fall temperatures. It is still super hot here. Yesterday it was 36 degrees Celsius, which is like 97 degrees Fahrenheit. So it is so weird to see pictures of people wearing long-sleeves and coats. If I even think about that here I start to sweat because it is so hot. Also humid. But Taiwan is just so wonderful and great the heat is totally worth it!!  So this week I learned what the word for spider is in Chinese because I saw one of the biggest spiders I've ever seen. And it's not even comparatively that big because there are spiders here that have bodies as big as dinner plates (thank goodness that I have yet to see one of those). So Sister Kwan and I were walking up the stairs to visit our cute old lady investigator (like she's literally the cutest ever. Also she's so funny. We love her so very much). I was a flight of stairs ahead of her and Sister Kwan just screams all of a sudden. I don't know what's going on and ...

Nihao! Guess what. Zhang Jie Mei and Melody got baptized!!!!!!! Ahhh it was so great. Everything went so well and now there are two new members in the SongShan ward! If you didn't already know, I love SongShan and everyone here. I also love the gospel and I am so glad to be here on a mission! This last week we were just really busy with a lot of appointments and meeting a lot of new people. One thing that was fun is that we had a trainer/trainee follow-up meeting and I got to see all my MTC friends again and got to learn more about teaching repentance and baptizing converts #TRBC Sorry my email is later this week, it's because we get to go to the temple today. I am so excited to go, I haven't been in so long!  Missionary work is so much fun. I hope you all have a wonderful week! Love you all! Chapter 15: So Many Miracles!

Image
Nihao! This week we saw so many miracles. We were able to get one of our investigator, Melody's, dad to sign the permission slip to allow her to be baptized! It's such a miracle. Her mom (Xiao Jie Mei) has been a member for seven years and we believe it is through the power of God and her example that he is allowing her to get baptized. We started teaching Melody when I first got on island, and her dad said she could take the lessons, but not come to church. So we taught her and would just pray that her dad would allow her to come to church. Then one day Xiao Jie Mei said that she asked her husband if he would allow Melody to come to church, and he said yes! It's just been so great since then, and I am so excited for Melody to get baptized! It's so special because Xiao Jie Mei is just so excited that her daughter can get baptized. She has been so patient for these years and I just can't imagine how happy she is right now. I am also so excited for Melody to take...

Chapter 14: Curry, Curry, and More Curry

Image
Nihao family! There was a lot of curry this week. It was the best. The SongShan missionaries put on an activity for the ward, and it was a curry cook-off! We have been planning this, spreading the word, and literally telling everyone we know and meet about our curry cook-off for the past month. It was a great way to meet members and investigators! One of our investigators, Denise, even made curry for the cook-off. We had about 10 people bring curry and then everyone tasted it and voted their favorite. Denise got third place! As a prize they all got more curry haha. The activity was especially fun for the missionaries because curry is literally all of our favorite food. There was so much, and it was just so much fun. There was such a good turnout too! Sister Kwan and I had the spiritual share and we shared a video about the Book of Mormon, talked about how it blesses everyone's lives and how we want it to fill the world. So we printed out 20ish Book of Mormon scriptures, and th...
