Chapter 35: It's still raining

Image
大家好!!  (da jia hao -- hello everyone) Wow, I can't believe another week has already flown by! It seems like just yesterday I was emailing home. This week has been super good!! Its been super super rainy. It has rained every single day from last Monday to this Monday haha. I wear 3 different pairs of shoes and I have to switch them out everyday to give them 2 days to dry. It's a pretty good system.  This week we had a lot of awesome visits with some awesome investigators! We visited with our friend Lin JieMei (just like me!... and like 1/3 of Taiwan). She is super cute! She lives super far away right next to a port, and it is SO beautiful. We were biking over to her house with the ocean on one side of the street and tall, green mountains on the other. I am constantly amazed from all of God's beautiful creations. Anyways, we were teaching Lin JieMei the gospel of Jesus Christ and all of a sudden, she stops us and is like, "I have something for you two." And Sister...

Chapter 34: Goodbye High Rises, Hello Rice Fields

Image
Hello!!!! I got transferred this week! I moved from the big, bustling city of Taipei to the quiet, rural east coast of Yilan (ee-lawn). Let me tell you, what a change that was! Here are some of the biggest differences: Songshan- tall buildings. everywhere Yilan- there is one tall fancy hotel, and that's it Songshan-  5:30  in the evening is a very terrifying time to ride your bike because everyone is getting off of work and it is very crazy and scary Yilan-  5:30 , 6 cars on the road Songshan- no nature. only concrete Yilan- 10 minutes away from the beach, 20 minutes away from the mountains, palm trees everywhere Songshan- no rice fields. anywhere.  Yilan- rice fields. everywhere.  Songshan- no dark and scary roads. lights everywhere. Yilan- plenty of dark and scary roads. Lined with rice fields. I have a huge fear of falling off the road on my bike and falling into a rice field hahahaha.  Songshan- East Taipei, the rai...

Chapter 33: Last week in Songshan

你好!! Wow, what a week. The weather was kind of crazy! On Tuesday we biked to the edge of our area to a college and let me tell you. The weather was BEAUTIFUL. It was like 75 degrees, sunny, and wonderful. The college campus was really small, but it was on the side of a mountain so there were stairs everywhere and buildings built into the mountain. There were green trees and tropical flowers everywhere. It was like a dream, it was so beautiful.  We talked to some cool people there and did our studies there too. It's nice reminiscing about it because as I look out my window, it is pouring down rain right now haha. Later this week it got super cold and rainy, and when I say rainy I mean like pouring. But even in the rain, the gospel still goes forth! So we went out and biked and walked around in the rain and cold. It wasn't the most fun thing to do in the moment, but it'll be a good memory for me to remember later on haha.  I would like to talk a little bit about my go...

Chapter 32: Happy New Year!

Wow, time flies so fast, I can't believe it's already 2018! (For me at least haha) I'm just going to give some updates on last week, because my email was pretty sub-par haha sorry. Last week Iris and Jade got baptized! It was so awesome, and both the services were just wonderful. Iris' baptism was a little crazy though. On the day of her baptism, we had zone conference/Christmas party from 9-5, so we were gone all day. Then at 6 we had a caroling activity we had to go to in Neihu, the area right next to ours, and then Iris' baptism was at 8. Unfortunately, because we were gone all day, it did not cross my mind to turn on the water heater. Most of the time the Elders do that, but because we were gone all day, no one was at the chapel to turn on the water heater, or the water. Thankfully, we remembered to start the water before Iris got baptized, but unfortunately, it was kind of cold. I felt so so so bad, and she was a little nervous, but then I told her I got b...

Chapter 31: Merry Christmas!

Hey everyone!! Merry Christmas!! Sorry I'm going to go out and have fun today so I won't email a ton, but just wanted to share these pictures. Iris got baptized on Friday and Jade on Sunday! A picture with Melody.  This morning our district got together at the chapel to play games, eat breakfast, and spend Christmas morning together. Then we went to BanQiao because apparently there is some Christmas thing going on. But we got here and they were taking it all down and the lights were off. But we found a super sick Tesla and took some pictures in it and pretended like we drove here. Hahaha  Love you all, love this work, love this gospel, and most of all love Jesus Christ!  Merry Christmas!  Sister Larson
